Drop the rope and come on in! When I first read this phrase in your directions, Nancy, I had the feeling this was going to be a special place. How right I was! Here at mile marker 56½ there is truly a little piece of heaven. “Valhalla” how apropos. We have traveled the Caribbean, Hawaii, Jamaica, and Las Vegas, California.
We had rooms with bars, safes, Jacuzzis and all the amenities. We never had a room with a little book on the night stand filled with praises and compliments from the guests. If those rooms did have these books they would, in all probability, been filled with complaints about maid service, room service, bar supplies, etc. But here we found no need for bars or liquor, the scenery is intoxicating. The water is more soothing than any Jacuzzi. The peace and tranquility is so unique, so rare. We may never tell anyone else how to find this wonderful paradise. We feel so blessed to have discovered your heavenly resort. We will surely return. Our time here was so enjoyable. We would like all our loved ones to experience it but on the other hand we would like to keep it a secret to be shared by just the two of us. We depart reluctantly but also thankful and rejuvenated and refreshed and feeling better about the world because God created Marathon Key and put there a special place at MM 56 1/2 run by two special people. Thank You for a wonderful stay. See you again, and again and again.
Sincerely,

My sorrow at leaving tomorrow is almost equal to my joy upon arrival. However, I never, truly, totally leave---- Everyday here is the same, but different. Something of what heaven may be like, “new every morning.” This morning I was greeted by a skate fish and a large school of mullet. Yesterday I spied a lobster. The first time, about four years ago, a live conch introduced himself! Sweet quietness embellished by the natural sights and sounds, just barely disturbed by our presence. Nancy, the proprietress, should receive an award for taking such good care of my piece of heaven. She defines the “gift of hospitality.” The room and grounds are lightly seasoned with her fun loving personality and pinches of personal art. Yes, I truly never leave. I reopen these experiences like a balm and apply it to my tired mind. I can only return once a year in person, but I revisit very often in spirit. See you on the nest “plane.”

Nancy, This is the most splendid spot I’ve been to in the Keys! We all love it here, the sandy beaches, the palm trees, the beach shack, the kayaks, the mullet, the pelicans, the barracudas, the blue herons, and the hermit crabs. The location is awesome to top it off we were blessed to meet the manatees!! …and we have only been here for four days… This place is good for the soul.
Two days and nights here as we work our way through the Keys. Wish we could stay all week! Love the grounds, the hammocks, the grill (lobster!) In the canoe, we visited the sand bar and it will hold a special place in our hearts forever. We also took in a moonlight canoe paddle….very nice. What a beautiful place! We are grateful to Fodor’s for without them we’d have never known Judy says “we’ll be back” and I agree. Your host cat Brindle was perfect as a feline companion. We made lasting memories here.

We have been coming to Valhalla Point for several years now and we look forward eagerly to our annual visit. In fact, we were very disappointed when we were not able to make our usual trip in 2000. Even though we only have one weeks vacation time, our visit to the Florida Keys helps to get us through the cold Canadian winter and through the tiring academic term. It’s a perfect spot for Bruce to celebrate his birthday. We love the natural, unspoiled beauty of the situation at Valhalla Point, and we enjoy the friendly, capable management and the clean, well-kept grounds and facilities. We enjoy watching the sea-birds fishing in the daytime, and we enjoy looking at the stars from the rocking arms of the hammocks at night. It really is paradise. We hope to return for our week in paradise for many years to come. Thanks for everything, Nancy. See you next year.

Terrific location. We had to double our length of stay which has sadly been too short! It brings back memories of Greek Islands, only with a sub-tropical feel, rather than the seemingly endless sprawl of US-1 (which is a little alien to us.) Certainly the best place we have stayed in the Keys and of course helped by the great weather- all the better knowing that is has been snowing back home. We recommend chilling out here, quiet BBQ’s in the evening and visiting the sand bar via canoe for a great swim in clear water over the finest of sand. When we come back to the Keys we’ll be back here. Thank You, Nancy.

What a lovely, peaceful spot. We have been to a lot of resorts most of which were pretty much alike. This is so unique:
-
Sitting in our bathrobes by the water watching the ocean, teaming with life.
-
Many, many different fish – needle nose, snapper, etc. Sting ray, spotted eagle rays, (don’t bother you) and crabs.
-
Dolphin come in here occasionally.
-
Ocean canoeing was great fun going to the sandbar.
-
Iguanas were so neat (3’-5’). They don’t bother you either.
-
The birds (pelicans, great white heron, etc.) were so neat to watch
-
Snorkel trip on the Spirit was magnificent! Crystal water…..tons of different fish….gorgeous colorful coral. We’ve gone a lot of different places (including Hawaii and Grand Cayman and that was as good if not better.).
Thank you for a wonderful experience. We’ll spread the word. It’s so hard to leave. Gorgeous 80’s the whole time.

Nancy,
We had a wonderful relaxing time. We couldn’t have hosen a more spectacular, relaxing place so opposite of the hassles of Washington D.C.
We have so little time to forget the “real” scenes of the world but this was the nearest to being “free” of it all that we’ve had.
We truly enjoyed it here as much; I think more, than the Bahamas. I’m already planning our getaway for next time.
Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with the rest of us lucky enough to have found it. David and Leah Washington D.C., VA
We’ve traveled for years in the Keys, Bahamas and Virgin Islands; yet have never found the perfect spot. Now that we’ve experienced the Valhalla Point, we have located paradise. We are surely coming back, it’s only a question of how soon and for how long.

This was our second stay here and one of the most memorable adventures ever! Jeff took me out on the canoe to look for shells. He asked me to look on the other side and when I turned back…he was on his knees, in the water, with a beautiful ring in a shell and he asked me to be his wife! What a perfect place to get engaged and to be able to come back to. Thank you.

We had the luck of having the whole place to ourselves! What a wonderful treat! A glorious, relaxing couple of days with warm hearts and minds. Thanks Valhalla Point and Nancy. Who needs valium! Much appreciated.

I’ve never felt so lucky in my whole life! First, it was a fluke that we even found Valhalla Point. Second, Valhalla Point itself….WOW! Third, we had it all to ourselves. We’ve been traveling for a while and this is by far the most wonderful place we’ve stayed at. The bed was SO comfortable, the amenities, the canoe trip, the fish we caught (barracuda, snapper, permit!!) the delicious BBQ and the views! Thanks Nancy for creating such a romantic, relaxing spot.
