Activities
Tucked back in the heart of the Florida Keys on the Ocean
side is where you will find Valhalla Point. The next Island
that you can see is Curry Hammock State Park giving this spot
a very remote feeling and is amazingly just a couple of miles
outside of town.
On the beach we have lounge chairs and gazebos with grills
for you to use.
We also have canoes that are free for you to use during your visit.
At high tide you can canoe around the island of the Crane
Point Hammock State
Park, going through a Mangrove trail that makes one feel that
they are deep in the Everglades. There are proposed
trails being developed, and this
MAP shows existing and
proposed trails. You also can canoe out around
the point to the east to a sand bar that emerges at low tide. You can
walk on this for a mile and see all sorts of surprises.
If you prefer to use a kayak, one can be delivered from
Marathon Kayak.
Valhalla Point is an idyllic spot for the windsurfer. Deep
bay behind the shallow off shore bar, so if there are rough
seas outside you have smooth water close to shore. Fast reach
from channel markers to Coco Plum Island- approximately two
miles. There is a beach launch into a cove and only 100 yards
out to a deep water bay. There is very little motor boat traffic
here so no problem with the motor boat wakes. Beautiful coastal
scenery and marine life that is unbeatable to observe while
you enjoy the ride. Windsurfers are available to rent from
Bump and Jump.
He will deliver this for you to use.
The fishing is great off of the property or you can hop in
the canoe and fish the flats. This is the best flats fishing
area in all of the Keys. Quite often we have guests who boast
of catching a Grand Slam.
Boat dockage is available for your boat at
$25.00 per night.. You can bring your own boat or rent one from one of
the many boat rentals companies here in town.
We are within easy driving distance of either Key Largo or
Key West if you wish to venture out for a day. In Marathon
you will find The Dolphin Research Center, Crane Point Museum,
and the Island of Pigeon Key. We have coupons for discount
admission. You will find in town a Publix and Kmart so you
can stock up your room and just stay and enjoy yourself.
Palm trees swaying in a gentle breeze under a perfect blue
sky. Warm tropical waters lap against the mangroves, while
fish dart in and out of the roots in an underwater play ground.
Paddle out to sea and marvel at its rich bounty of rays, starfish,
shells and numerous other wonders just waiting to be discovered.
Or just relax and lay back and watch the birds watching you.
See the sun go down with a glass of wine, then swing in a
hammock and stare at the stars.
Unspoiled and tranquil. Its perfect.
